July 31 …and way past…sorry!

I completely forgot about the travelog until Carol Richardson reminded me with a one-word email: “Epistle?”  So here I am scanning last month’s calendar and finding little that was unusual/noteworthy to report, with the exception of our Sunday evening concerts in Sliter Park for which I am responsible.  Last week, Cocinando, old friends who have brought their South American repertoire to us each summer for longer that I have been involved, played for a large, appreciative audience.  Two years ago, they presented me with a t-shirt emblazoned with their new logo… and when I wore the shirt this year, Mark asked me stand up and show the audience…it’s the last of the first batch unless they decide to print more.  Next Sunday, the LeftOver Biscuits will enchant us for the last time, the boys having decided to hang up their hats after these many years of starring in the Riverbend Concert Series.

Our weather has been 90+hot and no changes expected in the next two weeks, says the weather person. Montana’s ‘dry spell’ is rapidly becoming a serious drought of some consequence to the farmers, who are the backbone of the state’s economy… and fires are taking out more and more of our beautiful forests with each passing day… Montanans will long remember 2017 as one of the hardest winter/spring/summer seasons any of us has ever experienced.

In addition to Uncle Sam, Faith Brynie, Nikki Lebrun, Jacob Cekander and Douglas McClain Peachey celebrated their Happy summer Birthdays, all, I hope, breathing better air than those of us in Western Montana.
